Presets Co // Born From Film.

01. Overall Look

These two black and white presets are a classic look that might remind you of Kodak Tri-X film. BW//01 is lower in contrast, with more shadow and highlight detail. BW//02 looks more like pushed film, higher in contrast with brighter whites and deeper blacks.

03. One click boom

Both presets are dialed for general use, not needing more than an exposure adjustment for most images.

04. Technical

These presets are based on custom camera profiles, which offer great flexibility and can also lead to better consistency across camera bodies. Most professional or advanced amateur cameras were covered, one exception was the Sony A9.

Because the majority of the look comes from the camera profile, it leaves much more room for tweaking the images in Lightroom.

05. Consistency

These images created a very consistent look across many brands of camera, styles of shooting, and types of light. They rarely needed more than a slight exposure adjustment. Consistency is definitely an easier task with BW presets, but these did perform well.

06. Typical tweaks

Outside of exposure, the most typical tweak would be highlights/whites to taste. The contrast slider was also handy if you wanted to dial down the contrast. Grain is the other variable most will want to look at, sometimes these felt slightly heavy on the grain settings.

07. Strong Points

These are nice, punchy, simple to use black and white presets. They work over a wide range of work and are very dynamic in use. They quickly give you a look that is hip and trendy, while staying timeless.

08. Weak Points

Grain settings are on the high end and some new camera models not supported.

10. Uniqueness

These are strong BW presets, they seem to be unique by the flexibility they offer. A few slider adjustment can greatly change the look of these presets, yet straight out of the box they are very solid.

11. Value

They are free. For presets based on custom camera profiles, with a very nice look, this isn’t a hard decision. Go download these presets.
